Retired alpine skier Lindsey Vonn has graced the pages of the SI Swimsuit Issue three separate times, starting with her debut in Whistler, Canada in 2010.The three-time Olympic medalist was photographed by Warwick Saint in a photoshoot that perfectly blended her typical ski attire with swimwear.

Six years later, the 38-year-old traveled to Petit Saint Vincent , where she participated in a bodypaint feature.

Vonn worked with makeup artist Joanne Gair and photographer Frederic Pinet for the occasion, and sported a gorgeous blue, green and black painted-on monokini in the Grenadines. Her most recent SI Swimsuit feature took place in 2019, when Vonn landed the cover of the magazine after her photoshoot in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with Walter Chin .

It was the same year she retired from professional skiing.

Earlier this year, the Minnesota native reflected on her trio of SI Swimsuit photoshoots over the years, noting that she was quite nervous for her debut with the magazine 13 years ago.

“I wasn’t entirely confident with how I looked at the time,” Vonn noted.“I think being featured in the magazine made me look at myself in a different, more positive light.”

“In some ways, it boosted my confidence and made me feel that having a strong and athletic body was not just O.K.

but something to be proud of and celebrated,” Vonn shared.“Each issue I was in, I was more and more confident, and it’s amazing to see that transformation in the pictures and in myself.”

Below are a few of our favorite photos from Vonn’s bodypaint feature in which her inner confidence shines through.
