Rafael Nadal secures Wimbledon round 3 over Berankis
It wasn’t perfect once again but [Rafael Nadal](/rafael-nadal) got the job done against Ricardas Berankis 6-4 6-4 4-6 6-3 to move on at [Wimbledon](/wimbledon) .It was a very Nadal-like performance where the Spaniard essentially got the first set without doing anything special.You could even argue that Berankis was the better player considering he was able to create a break chance first.Still, at 5-4, he played a terrible game and lost the set.
That’s how it goes against Nada.The 2nd set opened with improved play by Berankis.Nadal was a bit lacklustre, quite similar to the way he played against Cerundolo and Ricardas was able to take a 3-1 lead.
Then Nadal found his rhythm again going 3-0 taking a 4-3 lead.He then went on to close out the 2nd set with 6-4.Berankis was unable to keep up the strong play from the baseline.He was able to keep it up in the 3rd set.Some shaky play early by Nadal gave the Lithuanian a 2-0 lead.
He almost made it a double break lead later on but the Spaniard was able to hold on.Nadal was unable to create much pressure on return though so we went into a 4th set after a 6-4 triumph for the Lithuanian.Berankis opened the 4th in very poor fashion.Nadal immediately jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after which play stopped due to rain.
It continued about an hour later with Nadal holding serve and cruising to a 6-3 finish.A victory, but a shaky one..
